Current status of project:
- We have narrowed the scope of our project to what we think can be reasonably accomplished during the course of the semester. We have also started considering and addressing some of the fundamental technical obstacles that our project will face.
Work completed in the last week:
- Divided up background research for the preliminary paper
- Investigated possible prior art (SmartHeart, AliveCor) and considered ways our project is different from them
- Narrowed scope:
- Will try to diagnose one disease via signals analysis and write the rest of the pertinent software
- Smartphone platform will be Android, due to low barriers to entry (free, no special hardware needed)
- Will design, but not construct, the corresponding hardware (i.e., the wireless electrodes)
Work planned for next week:
- Begin writing the preliminary paper
- Investigate the basics of writing Android applications to gauge the amount of work creating the MobileDoctor app will require
Anything needed from mentor/client or TA or instructor to continue work:
- From the instructor/TA: confirmation on how our project will be graded, given that a significant portion of it will be software
